About The Havanese
The perfect blend of companionship, personality, and playful energy for any home.
The Havanese is a truly special breed, known for its affectionate personality, intelligence, and irresistible charm. Often called the “Velcro dog,” the Havanese forms deep bonds with their families and thrives on companionship, making them one of the most loving and loyal companion dogs in the world.
A Rich and Unique History
The Havanese originated in Cuba and is the country’s national dog. Descended from the Bichon family, these dogs were brought to Cuba by Spanish settlers in the 1600s. Over time, they became beloved companions of Cuban aristocrats and were treasured for their playful nature and elegant appearance.
Despite nearly disappearing during political changes in Cuba, the breed was preserved by dedicated families who brought them to the United States. Today, the Havanese continues to grow in popularity, loved by families across the world for its sweet temperament and adaptability.
Temperament & Personality
Havanese dogs are known for their joyful, affectionate, and social nature. They are:

• Extremely loving and people-oriented
• Great with children and other pets
• Intelligent and eager to please
• Playful yet calm when needed
• Naturally friendly and rarely aggressive
They are happiest when they are by your side—whether you’re relaxing at home or out and about. Their gentle personality makes them ideal for families, seniors, and first-time dog owners alike.

Appearance & Coat
The Havanese is a small but sturdy breed, typically weighing between 7–13 pounds. One of their most striking features is their beautiful, silky coat, which can be either straight or slightly wavy.
Their expressive eyes and soft, flowing hair give them a charming, almost teddy bear-like appearance that instantly captures hearts.
Colors & Unique Markings
One of the most exciting things about the Havanese breed is the incredible variety of colors and patterns they can have. Unlike many other breeds, Havanese come in a wide range of stunning combinations, including:

• Chocolate
• Chocolate Parti (white & chocolate)
• Black
• Black & White
• Gold
• Red
• Cream
• Sable
• Silver
• Blue tones

Many Havanese puppies are born with beautiful markings that can change or lighten as they grow, making each puppy truly unique. Some even have rare eye colors like green or blue, especially in certain chocolate lines.
No two Havanese are exactly alike—each one is a one-of-a-kind companion.
Hypoallergenic & Low Shedding
Havanese are considered a hypoallergenic breed, making them a great choice for families with mild allergies. They shed very little compared to other breeds and have hair rather than traditional fur.
While regular grooming is recommended to maintain their coat, many owners love the flexibility of styling—from long and elegant to a shorter “puppy cut” for easier maintenance.
Why Families Love the Havanese
The Havanese is more than just a beautiful dog—they are a true companion. Their adaptability makes them perfect for:
Houses or apartments
Families with kids
Multi-pet homes
emotional support
A Lifelong Companion
With proper care, Havanese dogs typically live 14–16 years, offering many years of love, loyalty, and unforgettable memories.
They are not just pets—they become part of the family.
